The paper discusses a preliminary experiment of the Low-Density Polyethylene (LDPE) and High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) plastic waste using Microwave Assisted Pyrolysis (MAP) system. The plastic waste was decomposed into hydrogen-enriched syngas and carbon black using an input microwave power of 1.2 kW at 2.45 GHz. The characterization of carbon black was carried out using Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FESEM), which confirm the traces of Carbon Nanoparticles (CNP) in HDPE. In case of LDPE, the carbon black was found to consist of Carbon Nanotubes (CNT). Energy Dispersive X-Ray (EDX) data confirmed that HDPE contains a greater amount of carbon compared to LDPE. Gas Chromatography (GC) data also confirmed the same for the syngas content.
