Development of Anode Power Supply for Gyrotron
摘要
The High Power Gyrotrons use mainly two high voltage power supplies cathode voltage power supply (~−50 kV) and anode voltage power supply (~+ 25 kV) to deliver high power microwave. Both the power supplies are critical for the safe and reliable operation of Gyrotron. The Cathode (Main) voltage power supply has been already developed indigenously, the Anode Power Supply (APS) also has been recently developed in-house and integrated successfully with 42GHz Gyrotron. Pulse Step Modulation (PSM) technology has been extensively used and a popular choice for high-voltage, high-power systems (MW level). While industrial low power high voltage solutions exist, they are often optimized for steady-state applications with limited dynamic response. In order to address the required fast and programmable dynamic response for Anode of MW class Gyrotrons, a 25 kV-100 mA, APS was indigenously developed and tailored for use in Electron Cyclotron Resonance Heating (ECRH) systems at IPR. This advanced power supply operates in both pulsed and continuous wave (CW) modes. Additionally, it offers programmable rise/fall times (1–5 ms) and voltage modulation capabilities from 0% to 100% of the set voltage. The switched power supply modules, rated for 400V and 100 mA, are housed in PVC enclosures and installed with progressive isolation to enable it to test at high-voltage DC (HVDC) up to 30 kV. The controller, which is CE-certified, operates in an optically isolated manner and reduced channel count is achieved through passive fiber optic splitters.
