Synthesis, Characterization and Study of EMI Shielding Properties of Polypyrrole/rGO Nanocomposites
摘要
In the present study, nanocomposites of reduced graphene oxide loaded polypyrrole (Ppy/rGO) with different loading concentrations (1, 3 and 5 wt%) of rGO in PPy have been synthesized by oxidative polymerization method for their utilization as electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding material in the microwave region of frequency ranging from 8.2–12.4 GHz (X-band). The structure of the prepared PPy/rGO composites has been analysed through X-ray diffraction technique and Raman spectroscopy. The XRD results show the successful synthesis of rGO exhibiting a broad peak positioned at 2θ ~24.6° with inter-layer spacing equal to ~0.39 nm. The EMI shielding parameters like, shielding effectiveness (SE) due to reflection (SEr), absorption (SEa) and total SE (SET) have been studied. The values of SET > 50 dB have been found in the whole studied frequency range for the synthesized PPy/rGO nanocomposites with 5 wt% content of rGO in PPy. The DC electrical conductivity has been found to be increased from 0.35 S/cm for PPy to 132.80 S/cm for PPy/rGO nanocomposite sample with 5 wt% content of rGO in PPy. Further, the absorption dominated total shielding effectiveness suggests that the synthesized nanocomposites can be efficiently employed as a shielding material for the protection of electronic devices against the EMI pollution.
