Researchers and medical experts are challenged unswervingly to control and overcome these lethal tribulations throughout the world. Medicinal chemists are in continuous search for the more effective and less toxic molecules to be used as a precise bludgeon against many fatal ailments since a long time. Among various classes of drug molecules, heterocyclic imidazole/imidazolium moieties play a significant role. In hope of increasing drug potential imidazole/imidazolium moieties have been extensively applied to prepare metal-based drugs specially coordination complexes and fortunately many researchers have developed many imidazole/imidazolium metal complexes with improved biological potential than these hetero-cycles in non-coordinated state. Metal ions of d-block are mostly tried successfully for the coordination with stated heterocyclic compounds to yield bioactive metal complexes possessing astonishing potential also against those disease causing factors which even get resistance for customary drugs. Such fantastic biological applications of imidazole-imidazolium metal complexes encouraged the authors to put a straight line research survey on these coordination compounds emphasized on antibacterial activities before scientific community from academia to industries.
