This study examines the forms of focus prominence and the cognitive mechanisms of accent production in Chinese declarative sentences by analyzing Indonesian students through phonetic research methods. The results indicate that raising pitch and expanding pitch range are the primary methods used by Indonesian students to highlight focus in Chinese. Additionally, the degree of focus prominence is related to the students’ proficiency in Chinese. Pauses hold an extremely important position in the rhythm system of Modern Chinese. The location and duration of pauses in language communication reflect second language learners’ cognitive understanding of the language they are learning. Therefore, based on the research focus on focal stress, this paper designs a comparative phonetic experiment on the production of pauses in declarative sentences, conducting listening and segmentation of the speech.
