Damping of Angular Frequency Variation for a Grid Connected Microgrid by Optimal Fuzzy Controller

A microgrid (MG) integrated with grid has been controlled in this work to damp angular frequency variations in power system. The control action for generator is based on Fuzzy PID controller with ITAE-based minimizing function for damping angular frequency variations. Variations in solar and wind penetrations have been executed with Eigen analysis to examine the controllability of proposed control action. Modification in grey wolf optimizer (MGWO) algorithm has been implemented with mutation strategy of differential evolutionary (DE) algorithm and improved convergence factor. The performance evaluation of MGWO has been compared with DE and GWO with system response and Eigen analysis. The proposed fuzzy control action improves systems closed loop response and provides better damping contribution to angular frequency variations in power system subject to renewable penetration.
