Ecological destruction is a direct manifestation of rural environmental problems, and this chapter focuses on rural ecological destruction and ecological protection. According to the explanation in the Dictionary of Environmental Protection, ecological destruction refers to certain changes in the ecosystem due to natural or man-made factors which upset the original equilibrium state, thus creating destructive ecological fluctuation or a vicious cycle (Zhu 2009: 88).
