The ARMENU research is to learn more about the effectiveness of introducing AR technology into restaurant menus as well as its capability to upgrade the ordering process. As with any innovative dining solutions that are gaining popularity in response to the demand for more involving dining experiences, challenges exist and AR can thus serve to solve various issues such as unfamiliarity with certain dish names, possible menu and associated decision-making ambiguity. Customers can use a QR code generated from their table and get an idea of what they are going to order as the app will include a 3D model of the dish. AR adds substantial value in the visualization the meals, which allows the customers to make effective and informed ordering based on realistically rendered interactive tools. The study provides new knowledge about integrating AR into restaurant menus, which may help to inform operational improvements and the upgrading of customer dining experiences for businesses in the food service sector. The evaluation was carried out to determine how close the users were in judging the augmented reality models in comparison to actual dishes, time spent on each dish on average was 50 s and rendering time was 2–5 s irrespective of the device used or network connection.
