Micro- and Nanoplastics Impact on Food Safety and Security
摘要
Plastic has emerged as one of the most significant challenges to the environment that we are currently confronted with. About 3.5 million metric tons per year are being produced as garbage from plastic in India. It is anticipated that the total amount of waste, including municipal solid waste, waste made of plastic, and waste from automobiles, will be three times as high by the year 2025 (Padmalosan et al. 2023). Recycling only accounts for a small fraction of plastic usage. A clarion appeal for various activities for managing plastic trash in the country is required due to the enormous volumes of plastic garbage leaking out. In this light, let us examine the problems that are related to waste plastic and the potential solutions. Plastic, which is durable, nonreactive, and lightweight, provides various benefits to businesses, customers, and other links in the social chain (Greene et al. 2022; Ragasri and Sabumon 2023). This is entirely due to the fact that it is both inexpensive and adaptable. Plastics are an important part of the healthcare business because they help keep things sanitary. Single-use plastics characterize each and every syringe and surgical instrument. In the automotive industry, it has enabled a significant decrease in vehicle weight, which has led to a reduction in fuel consumption and, as a consequence, the influence that automobiles have on the environment. Helmets made of plastic protect our heads from harm (Silva et al. 2021; Pironti et al. 2021).
