Adsorption of As(V) on Iron-Oxide-Coated-Crushers-Waste (IOCCW)
摘要
Iron-Oxide-Coated-Crushers-Waste (IOCCW) was prepared as arsenate adsorber from the disposed of crushers waste (geometrical mean sized particles of 150 µ) by coating with Fe(NO3)3.6H2o at 160 °C for 16 h and characterized by SEM/EDX. In batch study, As(V) removal to the tune of ~ 97% could be achieved within 5 h of contact time, 4 g/L dose of adsorbent with a shaking speed 150 ± 5 rpm and at 25 ± 2 °C from the contaminated water with an initial concentration 0.7 mg/L and pH of 6.8 ± 0.2. The adsorptive capacity was found to be 0.237 mg As(V)/g IOCCW and the adsorption process mostly followed the Langmuir isotherm. The physisorption of the process was understood from the mean free energy calculated from D-R isotherm. The adsorption process adhered to pseudo-second-order reaction model. A mechanism for As(V) adsorption on IOCCW was proposed.
