Heterogeneous traffic makes it a challenging task to define the Level of Service (LOS) for urban streets in Indian context. Planning, designing of transportation projects and allocation of resources becomes easy with the determination of speed ranges of different LOS categories. In the present study, an attempt has been made to define the LOS for Indian urban street taking into consideration the average travel speed. CLARA algorithm is used on average travel speed data for determining the LOS categories. The ranges of speed values obtained in the present study is found to be less than the speed ranges defined by the Highway Capacity Manual (Highway Capacity Manual 2000).
