Being the major state of international investment flows in the world, China has been challenged as the respondent state in eight cases, while Chinese investors have challenged host governments in 23 cases. This chapter overviews the cases that China acts as respondent state and the cases that the Chinese investors act as claimants, respectively. It also briefly studies the major cases of the above-mentioned two types of cases and lessons learned.
