The China-ASEAN Agreement on Investment signed in 2009 is a high-standard investment agreement for China in the first decade of the twenty-first century. The negotiations on the Agreement lasted several years. This chapter reviewed the crucial substantive controversies during the negotiations and proposed approaches to result the controversies. Lastly, this chapter briefly discussed the ISDS mechanism and the two investment arbitration cases submitted based on the Agreement.
