Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder marked by limited and repetitive behavioral patterns as well as ongoing challenges with social interaction and communication. The need for more objective, trustworthy, valid, and accurate diagnostic tools has grown recently. Adults and children with ASD can benefit from metaverse approaches like virtual reality (VR). They offer extra-sensory data, such as eye tracking, and a virtual platform where users may continually engage with others and their surroundings safely while gathering information for further study. This article provides an overview of recently completed research projects, the main findings, limitations, VR therapy, and its techniques. We focus on mobile VR construction. The study provides a complete industry and market analysis of ASD treatments and the various developed VR software and instruments. The study presents the general ASD diagnosis phases, the utilized datasets, and the future directions.
