Pulmonary hamartoma (PH) is the most common benign tumor of lung, accounting for 3% of cases, with an incidence of 0.25% in the general population. Initially, PH has been considered a developmental malformation but is presently classified as a true benign mesenchymal tumor. It is discovered during assessment for other diseases and presents as a solitary pulmonary nodule. However, there are still controversies regarding the indication and timing of surgery, the recurrence or malignant degeneration, and whether PH is a real risk factor for lung cancer development. Despite the ongoing debate, surgery remains the only definitive curative option available, with the preservation of functional lung tissue being essential. Therefore, this case presents a 50-year-female patient with persistent cough lasting approximately 1 year. The patient was diagnosed with PH based on the histologic appearance of an assisted Thoracic Surgery (VATS) biopsy.
