The muon g-2/EDM experiment at J-PARC aims to precisely measure the muon’s magnetic moment, driven by discrepancies between theory and previous experiments. A key challenge is the fast reconstruction of positron tracks from muon decays, which is currently done using the Hough transformation. To overcome computational delays, we explore a GPU-based solution to accelerate track finding through parallel processing. Early results are promising, though further optimizations are needed for high-pileup scenarios.

摘要

The muon g-2/EDM experiment at J-PARC aims to precisely measure the muon’s magnetic moment, driven by discrepancies between theory and previous experiments. A key challenge is the fast reconstruction of positron tracks from muon decays, which is currently done using the Hough transformation. To overcome computational delays, we explore a GPU-based solution to accelerate track finding through parallel processing. Early results are promising, though further optimizations are needed for high-pileup scenarios.
