Intelligent Siting Framework for Wireless Network Base Stations in the 5G Era: A Case Study
摘要
With the vigorous development of the digital economy, the existing wireless network Base Station (BS) siting models are only suitable for simple scenarios of small-scale networks and cannot cope with the complex and dynamic 5G network environments. Therefore, how to further enhance the effectiveness of 5G BS siting using Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology has become a focus of the industry. In order to reconstruct the way wireless network BSs are sited to be fully automated and intelligent, the authors of this paper have integrated AI technology into 5G BS siting, proposing an intelligent siting framework for wireless network BSs. Firstly, the authors describe the framework for wireless network BSs. Secondly, we introduce the technical details of the two components included in this framework: 3D insights and intelligent siting, which involve beam-based 3D positioning algorithms, indoor-outdoor user differentiation algorithms based on Measurement Report (MR) call detail records, 5G coverage restoration algorithms based on survivor bias, rural 5G network coverage basic models, as well as BS siting and BS equipment selection methods. Finally, the authors deploy this framework in Beijing Unicom and provide a practical application case study.
