Virtual Reality in the Context of Corporate Training: A Systematic Literature Review

In the rapidly evolving landscape of corporate training, continuous skill development is essential to maintain competitiveness. Traditional training methods are increasingly being supplemented by advanced technologies like Virtual Reality (VR), which offers immersive learning experiences by replicating real-world environments. VR enables trainees to engage in complex tasks and processes, such as those in manufacturing, construction, and safety management, that are otherwise difficult or risky to access. Despite VR’s demonstrated potential to enhance performance, motivation, and learning outcomes, its adoption in corporate settings remains limited. Challenges such as motion sickness, technical difficulties, and physical strain are common, highlighting the need for ergonomic and technical improvements. Furthermore, while VR can increase engagement, it is not always superior to traditional methods in terms of knowledge retention. A systematic review of relevant studies reveals that VR is particularly effective for developing practical skills and fostering innovation in fields like manufacturing and project management. However, more research is needed to expand VR applications, refine its methodologies, and evaluate its long-term impact on corporate training. This paper aims to assess the current state of research on VR in corporate training and provide recommendations for future studies.
