Terra-Rover: An Autonomous Multi-terrain Disaster Management Solution with Encrypted Data Transmission for Hilly Areas, Tunnels, and Coal Mining Regions

Disaster management in challenging terrains, such as hilly regions, tunnels, and coal mining areas, faces significant obstacles, including limited accessibility, unpredictable environmental conditions, and delayed response times. These challenges heighten the risk to responders and victims, demanding solutions that ensure operational efficiency and safety. Terra-Rover, a multi-terrain disaster management system, autonomously navigates GPS-bounded areas, avoiding obstacles and providing real-time surveillance via video streaming. Equipped with sensors for toxic gases, environmental monitoring, and health diagnostics, it supports rescuers in identifying critical conditions and deploying GPS-enabled parachutes and life jackets for high-risk rescues. Terra-Rover coordinates with secondary drones for aid delivery, predicts landslides and tunnel collapses using YOLOv8 and OpenCV, and transmits sensor data securely via the MQTT protocol. Integrating autonomous navigation, advanced sensing, and encrypted communication makes Terra-Rover vital for enhancing responder safety and operational efficiency in disaster scenarios.
