Cyclic Voltammetry Analysis of Reduced Graphene Oxide for Supercapacitors

Supercapacitors are known for their remarkable power density with rapid energy storage and release characteristics. This study utilized cyclic voltammetry (CV) to investigate the electrochemical properties of reduced graphene oxide (rGO) as an electrode material. The formation of the rGO electrode is achieved by reducing the graphene oxide (GO) and coating it onto a conductive substrate, followed by CV characterization carried out in KOH electrolyte using both 2-electrode and 3-electrode configurations. The outcomes demonstrated the rGO has better capacitance and charge storage than GO, with nearly rectangular CV curves further supporting its excellent electrochemical double-layer capacitance behavior. This chapter discusses the properties, efficiency, multifunctionality, and potential of rGO electrodes as supercapacitors by exploring their scan rate, reduction time, and composite materials.
