Research on the Output Characteristics of MgO:PPLN Optical Parametric Oscillations in the Near-Infrared Band Based on a Long Pulse Width Pump Source
摘要
The study investigated the output characteristics of near-infrared wave from MgO-doped periodically poled LiNbO3 (MgO:PPLN) when pumped by a long-pulse-width pumping source. The pump source used was an electro-optical Q-switched Nd:YAG laser with pulse widths ranging from 100 to 200 ns and a maximum single-pulse energy output of 180 mJ. Simulations were conducted to analyze the temperature tuning curve of the MgO:PPLN crystal with a periodicity of Λ = 30.8 μm. The thermal distribution of the crystal during operation was established, and the simulation results indicated that thermal effects could influence the output wavelength. Experimentally, continuous tunable near-infrared laser output ranging from 1.56 μm to 1.64 μm was achieved through temperature tuning. At the crystal temperature of 90 ℃ and a pump energy of 60 mJ, the maximum output energy obtained was 12.2 mJ at a repetition rate of 1 Hz, producing a near-infrared laser output at 1.59 μm with an optical-to-optical conversion efficiency of 20.33%.
