Due to the expansion of globalization, increase in migration, outbreak of pandemics, occurrence of wars, evolution of (educational) technology, and unfolding of sociopolitical events, the landscape of English language learning and teaching constantly undergoes changes. This requires English language teachers to be able to teach a diverse body of learners and be prepared to instruct in a multipolar environment. To cope with the above situation, English language teachers need to equip themselves with the cutting-edge knowledge and developments in the field of English language learning and teaching; accordingly, in this book we aim to empower English language teachers to be able to teach in educational contexts where diversity and variety are paramount and teachers are required to wear a number of hats, e.g. as teachers, educators, assessors, practitioners and researchers. To achieve this, the book provides English language teachers with the recent developments in sociocultural and socio-educational aspects of ELT, ELT teacher education and teacher identity, ELT paradigm, and diversity in ELT.
