Human-Centered Design in Bamboo Toys for Achieving Sustainability and Environmental Goals
摘要
Toys have been an integral part for development of various skills among children. Parents and teachers also consider play as most important for development and education; as a result toy market is ever growing. However, majority of these toys are made of plastics and woods and large-scale uses of these have created environmental hazards. The available researches are also around wood and polymer and very limited using bamboo as material. This study is conducted to understand the readiness of ecosystem in north east India, which is the largest producing region for bamboo. In this regard, various literature was explored from the three popular electronic databases (Web of Science, Scopus, and Google Scholar). A noticeable research gap has been found on product design, production techniques, and sustainable packaging of bamboo toys. So, it is of utmost importance for the stakeholders to work on innovative tools for manufacturing ergonomically designed sustainable toys using bamboo.
