Design and Development of an Emergency Power Source for Flood-Affected People of Rural Assam
摘要
With the changing climate patterns, the excess water has increased the woe to mankind in the form of floods. Every year our country witnesses numerous incidents of flooding leading to tremendous damage and losses. It affects the socio-economic life of the people and disrupts the environmental ecosystem. Floods in the rural areas of India are often followed by power outages which severely impact the lives of the unprivileged people. The study aims to mitigate the risks for flood-affected communities in rural Assam through a novel approach by the design and development of a small emergency power source that runs on renewable sources of energy. The different design concepts were generated using the morphological chart, and the final desired concept was selected with the help of a Pugh chart. The proposed system harnesses sustainable energy sources of water and sunlight to generate power, enabling households to illuminate their flood-affected homes and charge essential emergency devices.
