Preventing Usability Barriers: Guidelines for Using User Interface Design in Microwave Oven
摘要
Our lives are now inextricably linked to consumer electronics, which are incorporated into a wide range of devices that have simplified our lives. Manufacturers are constantly creating new products and releasing them onto the market, but because of the complex user interface, consumers are hesitant to use the products. The user interface should be created with everyday users’ ease of use and comprehension in mind. Some guidelines were prepared through user workshops and eye-tracking experiments for ease of operation. The results revealed that 78% opined to lessen the number of buttons which was again found by the eye-tracking method that buttons should be neither too many nor too less. According to the results of the paired preference test, the font size of 7.5 on a white background with black text was ranked first. Regarding the position of the interface, it was seen that respondents mostly preferred the vertical down position.
