Advanced Gas Leak Prevention with Smart Sensor Network

The main purpose of this paper is to propose a design that can interrupt or detect leakage, warn the user, and control gas leakage inadvertently. The proposed system can be used for purposes such as home security, heating systems, LPG, and natural gas or methane gas-powered businesses or factories. While LPG cylinders were widely used in cities and metropolitan regions in the early days, demand has also been increasing in rural areas in recent years. Liquefied petroleum gas is an extremely flammable gas. Due to human negligence or other external factors, gas leakage has been taking place, leading to explosions in industries and residential areas. The prevalence of these explosions is growing with each passing day. With the increase in LPG demand and consumption, it has become mandatory to monitor the risk of LPG cylinders. To overcome the above situation and save people’s lives, we propose an intelligent LPG detection system using IoT as the method. The proposed system identifies gas leakage in two locations: regulator and burner. In the regulator, as long as there is a gas seepage a beep sound is made, and the regulator button is automatically turned OFF. In the burner, we have used a flame sensor that detects the absence of flame and automatically turns off the knob of the stove. Additionally, if the flame remains for 20 min, the owner will be informed via Short Message Service (SMS). Following the execution of the code, the proposed system response time is 0.63 ms. All processes of the proposed system run on IoT-based code.
