A Dual-Layer Microwave Absorber Using Resistive Ink for C and X Band Applications

This article introduces a simple microwave absorber design that utilizes resistive ink for C and X bands applications. The double-layer structure comprises resistive patterns printed on a 0.2 mm FR4 substrate. In between the upper and lower layers, an air gap is sandwiched. The proposed design achieves a 90% absorption bandwidth in the 3.62–12.18 GHz frequency band. The structure is polarization independent and has good angular performance for both transverse electric (TE) and transverse electric (TM) modes. A transmission line-based equivalent circuit layout is further provided to comprehend the absorption process.
