Effect of Lattice Structure on Surface Roughness and Thermal Conductivity of FDM Components
摘要
This paper investigates the effect of various lattice structures on the surface roughness and thermal conductivity of parts made by using Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS) material with fused deposition modeling (FDM) technique. The ABS is a type of thermoplastic polymer that is popularly used in many varieties of applications due to its impressive durability combined with adaptability. 9 varieties of lattice configurations were examined, including regular variations like cubic and hexagonal patterns and gyroid like more complex patterns. The prepared specimens were tested for density, thermal conductivity and surface roughness to understand the effect of lattice structures on these properties. The results show that “Diamond Minimal Surface” structures are better choice when good surface finish is concerned and the thermal conductivity is more in specimen with Octagonal Truss structure.
