Enhancing Electron Beam Welding Parameters of Ni-Cr-718 Alloy Using Taguchi-Based Grey Relational Analysis

A need of high strength materials Inconel 718 is a Ni–Cr-Fe-based alloy designed for usage at high temperatures, often in cluster VIIIA components, which gains more mechanical stress and a lot of surface stability. This work is conducted to study optimization of electron beam welding process created for Ni–Cr-718 alloy, and for the optimum integrity to generate desirable bead shape and mechanical characteristics of welded connections, using grey-based Taguchi approach presents the multi-response model. To establish which objective functions should be optimized within the area of experimentation, 27 possible combinations based on the Taguchi technique’s orthogonal array were used. Multiple regression analysis was used to create the objective functions, which connect the electron beam weld parameters to the grey relational grade as a whole. Using GRA approach and the influence of the factors on the whole performance parameters of the weldment was as well as measured by ANOVA. Further testing has shown that the best outcomes were attained. This research work demonstrates the efficacy of using grey relational analysis in combination with the Taguchi approach to constantly enhance weld performance.
