An Improved Carrier-Based DPWM Method for Three-Level T-type Inverters

The traditional space vector pulse width modulation (SVPWM) of three-level T-type inverters has the problem of high switching losses. Meanwhile, some discontinuous pulse width modulation (DPWM) strategies are proposed to reduce switching losses effectively. However, the DPWM method will lead to poor output current/voltage quality. Therefore, a new clamping DPWM modulation method of three-level T-type inverter is proposed in this paper, which takes into account both switching losses and output current quality. The voltage can be clamped at the zero crossing and maximum voltage amplitude, and allows for free selection of the adjustment range. Finally, the feasibility of the proposed modulation method is verified through simulation.
