Parametric Seismic Analysis of Water Elevated Intze Tanks

All water-elevated tanks are composed of 2 things: Staging and Tank. Then, it is possible to analyze them separately. In the present paper, the purpose is to examine a parametric Intze tank and its staging. For the 1st case were considered 2 options. The 1st option consists in increase the conical angle at the bottom of the tank and the 2nd in varying the opening of the inferior dome. The goal is to see the influence of these 2 parameters in the structural response of the structure. The 2nd case is to increase (until achieve an approximated circle) the sides of a polygon, that is formed by the beams at each level above the ground, also modify the height for all levels, and increase the radius, to finally evaluate the lateral deformation of staging. With this in mind, is necessary to have one thing: A unified code to iterate results, giving different values to the chosen parameters. The tools that were used for that purpose, include 2 programming languages (python and julia) and the API of Sap2000. After all, the main findings for the 1st case are: The impact of increasing the conical angle is significant, and the effect of varying the internal dimension of the inferior dome doesn't make a big difference in the structural response. For the 2nd case: The increasing of sides for staging has a positive effect on lateral deformation. Finally, following the methodology described above is possible to make an adequate decision for the size of any Intze Tank, because the results for the 1st and 2nd cases provide 2D graphics that reflect the interaction between dimensions.
