Cruciform butted connections are commonly employed to join buckling-restrained braces (BRBs) to gusset plates. However, research specifically focusing on gusset plates utilizing this connection type is limited. In this research, a total of 230 cruciform butted connected gusset plates (CBC gusset plate) models with varying parameter were analyzed to research their yielding behavior and performance, and equations were developed for estimating the yield force of CBC gusset plates. The findings of this research are summarized below: (1) under tensile loading, the yielding position of CBC gusset plates was located along the line connecting the two corner nodes to the end of the stiffener. (2) The yield force and yield displacement of the gusset plates were influenced by several factors, including the length of the stiffeners, width of the cruciform section, size, thickness, and presence/absence of side stiffeners. (3) The proposed equation provides a conservative estimate of the yield force of CBC gusset plates.
