The liquid oxygen/methane (LOX/methane) engine has the advantages of high performance, convenient operation and maintenance, as well as low-cost propellants, which satisfies the development needs of reusable launch vehicle propulsion systems. This paper first reviews the development status of LOX/methane engines at home and abroad, including the research and development history and flight test situation of the Raptor engine and BE-4 engine of the US, the RD-0169 engine and RD-0162 engine of Russia, the Prometheus engine of Europe, and the LOX/methane engines of China, etc.; secondly, the key technologies and difficulties of LOX/methane full-flow staged combustion cycle engines are analyzed; finally, the development trend of LOX/methane engines is analyzed to provide reference for the research and development of LOX/methane engines of China.
