Evaluation on the Machining Behaviour of AA6063 with Electric Arc Milling
摘要
A study of AA6063 employing short electric arc milling (SEAM) technique, which is frequently used in the production of aluminium alloy thin-walled products, aims to address issues such as process distortion, minimum efficacy, tool wear, surface burrs, and others. Multiple technical indicators, including side taper (ST), material removal rate (MRR), surface roughness (SR), and relative tool wear ratio (RTWR) of the workpiece, were used to assess the impact of electrode (E) material, voltage (V), frequency (F), and duty cycle (DC) on the processing performance of aluminium alloy. Understanding the machining method of AA6063 requires looking at its surface shape, chemical composition. The copper electrode offers the highest processing efficiency (up to 15,165 mm3/min), best surface polish (0.9), and best dimensional accurateness (0.01 mm) when working with aluminium alloys. This research lays the road for improved effectiveness and quality in SEAM processing of AA6063.
