An Introduction to Forensic Serology, Biological Evidence Evaluation, and Time Since Intercourse Intervals
摘要
Forensic serology is the study and identification of bodily fluids for criminal investigations. The objective of this chapter is to discuss biological evidence evaluation and the current approaches to the detection and identification of biological fluids. A brief history of forensic serological testing is provided in each section. Readers will gain insight into the different types of tests available for each bodily fluid and how they are used, as well as the notable differences between the test methods. Further, estimates of time since intercourse intervals and the persistence of seminal fluid constituents will be discussed.
