Research and Application of Integrated Seismic Geological Engineering Technology in Deep Coalbed Methane Exploration and Development

The 8# coal seam of Benxi Formation in Ordos Basin is widely covered and rich in resources, that is an important replacement field. The horizontal well is the most economical and efficient method for the exploration and development. However, the deep burial, thin thickness and micro-relief structure of coal seam restrict the sweets evaluation and the efficient implementation of horizontal wells. This paper establishes a seismic-geological integrated support technical series for horizontal wells of deep coalbed methane. Firstly, the thickness of coalbed is described by the RBF inversion. Secondly, by the micro-relief structure interpretation technique, the micro-relief structures (3–5 m) are identified. Thirdly, according to the geological risks, the seismic and geological integrated real-time guidance technology is adopted to determine the adjustment schemes for the target point and horizontal trajectory, so as to achieve the best trajectory guidance and improve the coal seam drilling rate. This series of techniques have been applied to 31 horizontal wells in Ordos basin, and the drilling rate of coal seam has increased by 25.5%, which effectively supports the exploration and development of the deep coalbed methane.
