This chapter provides an in-depth exploration of connectors and sentence final particles in Thai, emphasizing their essential roles in constructing coherent, contextually appropriate, and socially nuanced communication. The chapter begins by examining connectors—formerly known as conjunctions—which function to link words, phrases, and clauses, illustrating relationships such as addition, contrast, cause and effect, and alternatives. These are categorized into equivalent connectors, clause connectors, auxiliary connectors, and discourse connectors, with detailed examples demonstrating their syntactic behavior and communicative functions. The chapter then turns to sentence final particles, analyzing their pragmatic roles in expressing politeness, emotion, attitude, irony, and gender identity. These particles are divided into those showing speaker intent or attitude and those marking social manners, including polite, impolite, sarcastic, and gendered forms. Through a combination of structural analysis and contextualized usage, this chapter equips readers with the tools to understand and apply these linguistic elements effectively, thereby enhancing fluency and cultural competence in Thai.
