Nanoparticles’ Pioneering Solutions for Plant Disease Management
摘要
Nanotechnologies are positioning themselves as a transformative force influencing many sectors, particularly agriculture, where they offer innovative methods for managing plant diseases. This chapter explores how nanoparticles can revolutionize this management, highlighting their ability to rapidly and accurately detect pathogens, deliver targeted treatments, and modulate plant immune responses. Owing to their properties, nanoparticles are essential for the expansion of nanobiosensors and advanced imaging techniques for accurate disease diagnosis. Moreover, nanoparticle-based delivery systems optimize the efficacy of agrochemicals by minimizing their adverse effects on nontarget organisms and enhancing natural defenses against various undesirable biotic factors, including pests, nematodes, fungi, bacteria, and viruses. Nevertheless, the use of nanoparticles raises significant environmental concerns and calls for rigorous nanotechnology regulation to assess and reduce their ecotoxicological impacts on terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems. This chapter offers a look at the specific implementation of nanoparticles to combat different pathogens, providing a forward-looking perspective on emerging trends and challenges in nanoparticle research for plant disease management. This highlights the potential impact and prospects of these technologies for the adoption of sustainable and efficient agricultural practices. Future research should continue to develop these technologies while addressing environmental and regulatory issues to maximize their effectiveness and sustainability in plant disease management.
