This study compares the performance between a filtered-tungsten halogen and a spectrum tunable LED source for assessing colour differences. Seventy pairs of samples were assessed by 20 observers against a grey scale under two sources. Comparing lighting quality parameters, it can be found that the LED source outperformed the filtered-tungsten halogen source. In addition, the LED source overcame most of the drawbacks of the former source. Comparing the visual results, it was found good agreement between two sources. In addition, CIEDE2000 fits the data much better than CIELAB as expected. Overall, there is a strong evidence that the spectrum tunable LED source not only provides high lighting quality but also gives similar visual results as the filtered-tungsten halogen source.

摘要
