This study discussed the influence of lightness on skin color preference center. Through experimental measurement and modeling, it is found that with the increase of lightness, people generally prefer brighter skin color. The ellipse model is used to fit the skin color preference data under different lightness. The results show that when the CIELAB lightness does not exceed 70, with the increase of lightness, the chroma increases and the hue remains almost unchanged. This study is of great significance to estimating the preferred skin color center under a given environmental illuminance and understanding image quality evaluation and skin color enhancement.
