Supply chain risk is present and looming over all supply chains. Supply chains, by nature, are entities with many distinct stakeholders all of whom have their own innate risks. Lowering, containing, and preparing for all forms of supply chain risks are mission-critical to many organizations, business, or otherwise. This chapter will dive into the world of supply chain risks and how a promising technology, blockchain, may be the answer to the risks currently faced by the world's supply chains. This chapter will first thoroughly examine the types of risks present within supply chains, their impacts, and current strategies and technologies used to mitigate them. Then it will examine the feasibility of blockchain technology in addressing these risks. It is evident that supply chains can be the source of competitive edge for many organizations; it is important that new technologies be examined and implemented into current organizations.
