Creative New Product Development in Semiconductor Industry—Case Studies of Qualcomm, TSMC, and NVIDIA
摘要
This chapter highlights how boundaries knowledge, created between individuals, organizations, and various different entities, promotes the knowledge creation process through mechanisms of creation and sharing among practitioners and different organizations (referred to in this chapter as “boundaries knowledge synchronization”) via in-depth case studies. Furthermore, for the realization of the creation and sharing of boundaries knowledge through boundaries knowledge synchronization, practitioners need to align knowledge boundaries among stakeholders and engage in an abductive synthesis process for knowledge creation activities. This requires that the different boundaries knowledge held by each practitioner be mutually learned and recognized through the formation of strategic communities via abductive synthesis. This chapter presents a new theoretical model called “boundaries knowledge synchronization” and analyzes and examines the product innovation process of Qualcomm, TSMC, and NVIDIA, global top players in the semiconductor industry. It also presents a mechanism that promotes the knowledge creation process by practitioners, including various stakeholders, through boundaries knowledge synchronization.
