Empirical Analysis in Manufacturing Industry: An Ergo-economical Approach
摘要
Performing various activities over a prolonged period results in work-related musculoskeletal disorders, impacting worker’s efficiency and costing a huge loss in the form of compensation for the industry. The necessity for a solution is inevitable. This study focuses on providing an ergo-economical solution for the process that improves the efficiency of the worker, in turn increasing productivity and the revenue of the industry. Workers are taken as samples and the learning ratio is calculated, based on the results workers are selected and are ergonomically assessed using Rapid Upper Limb Assessment (RULA), and the requirement for ergonomic improvement is identified. RULA actions are suggested and cost estimation is performed. The suggested alternatives are evaluated through break-even analysis. The study gives the most optimum economical solution. This creates a balance between ergonomics and economics that enhances workers’ efficiency and the industry’s return on investment.
