Revamping the News Reading Culture for the Youth

Youth disengagement with news media leads to decreased consumption. Relying on social media harms understanding. Lack of engagement in the current news modes has led to the youth being disinterested in the news. The study’s goas aim to spark young people’s interest in news, the study seeks to create a compelling news medium, nurturing curiosity, and establishing a reading habit. Engaging content tailored to their preferences is crucial for voluntary engagement and staying informed on current events. The news must be delivered in a way that appeals to them to voluntarily show interest. A Mumbai study with 120 participants used diverse tools to analyze variables and synthesize data for patterns. Researchers synthesized data points to define a problem, aiding ideation for the development of “Newsified”—an app streamlining news consumption with a competitive twist. Users can compete while receiving news, making it a fun experience. Feedback from customers led to improvements, enhancing specific app features, which were overall well-received. The solution proposes a revolutionary news consumption method captivates, making information delightful, transforming how people engage with current affairs. Even if there is a significant behavioral change curve, the solution could be capable of bridging some of the gaps.
