Workspace Ergonomics: An Integrated Approach Toward Sustainable Sitting and Seating
摘要
The swift expansion of the IT sector in India has fueled the rise of paperless offices, leading to a significant increase in individuals adopting prolonged sitting positions as their primary posture within the office workspace. However, this inclination toward seated workspace is accompanied by a range of drawbacks stemming from inadequate attention to ergonomic principles, correct posture, anthropometric considerations, etc. Addressing these concerns and striving to offer enhanced comfort and optimal performance, this study presents an ergonomic solution for a sustainable office chair that accommodates both kneeling and sitting postures, considering the user interface and experience. The foundation of this ergonomic solution is fortified by a comprehensive examination of the consequences of sitting and kneeling posture on the human spinal structure and the use of lumbar electromyography and analysis of human spine curvature coupled with anthropometric data in the Indian context, aligning with the unique needs of better sitting and seating.
