Severity assessments enable prioritization of problems encountered during usability evaluations. They are typically expressed by ratings provided by evaluators, usability specialists, or users. The reliability of such assessments improves with user involvement, supported by the criteria, reasoning, and personal experiences. This paper presents a severity assessment of the wayfinding problems experienced by thirty Mumbai Rail Commuting System commuters. Participants were classified into no vision (n = 10), low vision (n = 10), sighted (n = 10). The qualitative interviewing method involved two steps: rating wayfinding problems in each task category, supported by reasoning. The study helped identify the most critical concerns that are either common or specific to user groups. The novelty of this study is the involvement of commuters with vision impairments in the severity assessment process. The findings from the study will help develop an action plan to improve their commuting system.

摘要
