Media and Communication? Reflections
摘要
In the world where visual culture is getting diluted and polluted increasingly hasn’t there been a moment rather several instances where we have been urged to pause and reflect upon the consequences of our complicated communication channels and technological advancements which have led to chaos. Is it an ordered chaos or disorder chaos or are we trying to force ourselves to see the positive even in the most saturated scenarios? Isn’t there a need to re-assess our strategies and communications, to make them simpler, less often, only when required and regulate them for a sustainable digital ecosystem and also a sustainable printable ecosystem? The paper presents its views against existing aggressive marketing, promotions, social media and advertising channels. The need to slow down, do less, believe in ‘less is more’, be grateful for what is already around and restricting market push designs. The paper focuses on certain philosophies of silence, values and idealism that could be achieved to enrich the communication strategies in a utopic environment. An attempt only rather philosophical take on existing methods and what could be possibly done to cleanse the increasing cognitive load that acquires our daily lives.
