Identification of Wetland Goods and Services in Vietnam: The Case of Cam Thanh Wetland
摘要
Human impacts on wetlands have been ongoing for decades, changing both biodiversity and the cover of wetlands. The wetland goods and services assessments aim to capture significant social-ecological benefits and integrate those benefits into wetland management and human well-being. The existing approaches to identifying goods and services of wetlands are primarily based on the wetland functions and values. In this chapter, we introduce a new approach to identifying goods and services of wetlands for Vietnam: a stakeholder approach. Without loss of generality, this new methodology is presented in the Cam Thanh commune, Hoi An City, Quang Nam province case. Researchers can easily apply the same method to different locations in Vietnam to draw relevant conclusions. From the study site employed to examine goods and services of the wetland ecosystem in Cam Thanh to illustrate a new approach, it is interesting that a new wetland service was contingently identified. It is seen that the utilization of wetland goods and services play a fundamental role in providing more information and enabling pressures to be integrated into environmental policy and wetland management.
