Inventory control involves effectively managing a company’s inventory levels to ensure there is always a sufficient supply on hand. Inventory control system accuracy significantly impacts manufacturing processes, but current understanding is limited to product provision, highlighting the need for more comprehensive understanding. Consequently, there is a lack of clear guidance on how to regulate inventories of products and services. There have been previous efforts to address issues with service and product inventory control. However, the lack of up-to-date guidance on inventory control and the infrequent validation of proposed frameworks and methodologies have contributed to these discrepancies. This research aims to create a new approach that will enhance the accuracy of inventory control in the product service system (PSS) for the manufacturing industry in Malaysia. The initial information for this paper came from qualitative research done with a Malaysian company. The intention was to identify necessary criteria for handling products and services. Information from secondary sources was also utilised. Further research opportunities have been identified through the analysis of the case study data. The development of qualitative models in this research will enhance the current corpus of knowledge by facilitating comprehension of the various types of PSS in manufacturing contexts.
