Metalworking fluid (MWF) is frequently used in metal cutting to improve precision and efficacy by lowering friction and wear. But, conventional metalworking fluids (MWFs) that are produced from mineral oil have negative effects on both human health and the environment. Hence, there is an increasing trend towards the development of sustainable metalworking fluids as potential substitutes. This study investigates the application of modified Tamanu oil (MTO) as a lubricant in the orthogonal cutting process, employing the minimum quantity lubrication (MQL) method. The results from this study show that both MTO and MTO with additives are on par with the benchmark commercial synthetic ester (SE) in their tribological properties and machining performance.
